Dear Colleagues,
As we celebrate Women in Medicine Month this September, I’m reflecting on the incredible contributions women have made to the field of psychiatry and medicine as a whole. This is a special time to recognize the perseverance, leadership, and strength of women who have broken barriers and continue to inspire us all.
One woman who has deeply inspired me is Dr. Marketa Wills, M.D., M.B.A., who was recently named the next CEO and Medical Director of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Wills has built an extraordinary career centered around improving access to care and fostering diversity in our profession. Her passion for innovation and her commitment to ensuring that mental health care is both compassionate and accessible make her an outstanding leader. She truly embodies what it means to lead with heart and vision.
I’m also thrilled to share that Dr. Wills will be speaking at OPPA’s 75th Annual Meeting and Celebration, taking place March 1-2, 2025, at the Hilton Polaris in Columbus. Her insights and leadership will no doubt inspire and motivate us, and I encourage all of you to be a part of this exciting milestone in OPPA’s history.

I am proud to lead an organization filled with such talented and dedicated professionals, and I look forward to celebrating many more achievements with you.
