Call for research papers, posters and student attendance at OPPA 2020 meeting

The Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Foundation (OPPF), in cooperation with the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association (OPPA), offers three excellent opportunities for general members, resident/fellows and medical students to become involved in organized psychiatry at the local level:

  1. Submission of Research Paper: Annually, the OPPF provides research awards in three different categories: General Member, Resident-Fellow Member and Medical Student to recognize individuals for the contribution(s) they are making to psychiatry and the understanding of mental disorders. The article must have passed peer review, be published or accepted and in press at any time between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2019. Deadline for submission is Dec. 31, 2019. Click HERE for more information.

  2. Poster Presentation Criteria 2020: Medical students are encouraged to submit an abstract for acceptance to display a poster on-site, during the OPPA Annual Psychiatric Update (March 14-15, 2020), that illustrates the research with interesting commentary about what you learned along the way through a combination of visuals and text. The abstract need not relate to submission of a research paper (under #1 above), however, it is acceptable to do so. Click HERE for details.

  3. Attendance at OPPA Annual Psychiatric Update – we are pleased to once again offer student sponsorships* to attend the 2020 OPPA Annual Psychiatric Update on March 14-15 at the Marriott University in Columbus. This year’s conference is entitled Practical Psychiatry: Pragmatic Approaches & Clinical Pearls and covers topics such as ADHD, Psychopharmacology, Iatrogenic Psychiatry and more.

Sponsorship recipients will receive complimentary registration and have the opportunity to sit with a mentor for the educational event. This is a great opportunity to gain additional exposure into psychiatry, to interact with and be mentored by current professionals and receive cutting-edge psychiatric education. For further details and to request a sponsorship, simply go online and complete the Sponsorship Request form which will be available Friday, December 6.

We encourage you to participate in one, two or all three of the above opportunities! If you have any questions please feel free to contact Janet Shaw, OPPA/OPPF Executive Director, at oppf@ohiopsychiatry.org.
