Amy Acton, MD will be leaving her position as a chief health advisor to Gov. Mike DeWine

During his coronavirus briefing on Tuesday, Aug., 4, Governor Mike DeWine announced that Amy Acton, MD, MPH will be leaving her role, as chief health advisor, in his administration. Acton previously resigned from her position as director of the Ohio Department of Health in June.

Dr. Acton will return to the Columbus Foundation to become the director of Kind Columbus, a new initiative dedicated to spreading the words and actions of kindness as a defining value for the central Ohio region. She will start her new position on Sept. 1, according to the Columbus Foundation. Acton worked at the foundation as a community research and grants management officer before accepting the job as director of the state health department in February 2019.

“It saddens me for her to be leaving her office,” DeWine said at his coronavirus briefing. She has assured me though she is just a phone call away ... and she will be available to continue advising me and our office as we move through this pandemic.”
