OPPA offers Buprenorphine Waiver Training - Oct 15
The OPPA, in partnership with the Ohio Osteopathic Association and the American Society of Addiction Medicine, is offering a free training for physicians in Ohio who are interested in seeking a waiver to prescribe Buprenorphine in the treatment of opioid use disorders.
Participate in one of three state-of-the-art locations: Athens, Columbus (Dublin) or Cleveland.
To obtain the waiver to prescribe, providers are required to take eight hours of training.
This is a “Half and Half Training,” which means the first half is taken online and the second half is completed in person. The online portion must be completed before the live course on Oct 15. Following the training, physicians who have successfully completed the course may apply to SAMHSA to obtain the waiver. PCSS-MAT urges all physicians who complete the course to submit a Notice of Intent Form (provided at the training) to SAMHSA to obtain your waiver to subscribe.
Upon registration, you will receive a link to the online portion of the course to be completed prior to the face-to-face portion Oct. 15. Waivers can only be obtained directly by physicians at this time. Residents may take the course and apply for their waiver when they receive their medical degree. Physicians assistants (PAs) and advance practice registered nurses (APRNs) are also encouraged to take the course and apply for a waiver once the regulations are promulgated from the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA).
