Urge your Senator and Rep. to repeal the flawed SGR!

The current Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula patch expires April 1, 2014. If Congress does not act before then, physicians could face Medicare reimbursement cuts of nearly 24%. The SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2014 (H.R. 4015/S. 2000) is a bipartisan and bicameral effort that permanently repeals the SGR and offers a long-term solution towards a more stable Medicare physician payment policy.

The American Psychiatric Association supports H.R. 4015/S. 2000. The time to stabilize Medicare physician payments has come. Congress has spent more on short-term patches than what it would currently cost to repeal the SGR permanently.

Your voice is needed! The APA is joining the American Medical Association and other specialties to urge Members of Congress to co-sponsor and act on this important legislation. It’s critical to retain the momentum behind this effort!

Please take a moment to call your U.S. representative and senators today either by using a toll-free grassroots hotline at (800) 833-6354 or sending an e-mail with the suggested text.
