Foundation now accepting nominations for Enlightenment Award

The Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Foundation (OPPF) is pleased to announce the 2016 Enlightenment Awards program. The award recognizes outstanding activity or presentations during 2016 which enhances the public’s access to treatment and/or enhances the public’s understanding of mental disorders or decreases the stigma often associated with mental illness.

Nominees can include an individual, organization, government entity, media (newspaper, radio or TV station or internet based communication) or a form of art. Awardees will receive a plaque at the 2017 Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association (OPPA) Annual Psychiatric Update, and recognition in the OPPA electronic newsletter, Insight Matters.

Nominations for the 2016 Enlightenment Award must be received no later than January 13, 2017. We respectfully request nominations from individuals or organizations including, but not limited to, OPPA members, local chapters of OPPA, mental health associations, Departments of Psychiatry, and media outlets in Ohio.

Applications must include the following items:

  1. A letter of nomination describing nominee’s contribution which positively impacts mental health;
  2. A copy of the presentation/supporting material. Examples include newspaper article, television documentary, news program, You Tube presentation, art form (book, story, play, musical or art piece); and
  3. Telephone numbers, addresses and e-mail addresses of both nominee and nominating party.

Entries will be reviewed by the OPPF Enlightenment Awards Committee and OPPF Board of Trustees.

The Enlightenment Awards will be presented in conjunction with the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association Annual Psychiatric Update scheduled in Columbus on March 12, 2017.
